Hey Mama Hey! It’s Throwback Thursday and I am throwing it back to 2015. November 7th 2015 to be exact! That’s the day Obie and I were married. *excuse me while I get emotional*
Our wedding day was full of 300 of our closest family and friends coming together to celebrate our love.
When we were planning our wedding we drove all over the Chicagoland area searching for a venue. Every time we would leave a meeting we both would look at each other and know….something wasn’t right.
We were missing vibe, swag, soul!!! Both of us lived on the SOUTH SIDE, our romance grew on the SOUTH SIDE, our wedding had to happen on the SOUTH SIDE!!!!
Once we made that decision, it was a game changer! We were able to customize a wedding that was anything but cookie cutter. Instead it reflected our personality as a couple and gave our guest a night they couldn’t stop talking about.
When I heard about the South Side I Do Hyde Park Wedding Stroll I knew I had to help spread the word! THIS Sunday Sept. 9th Noon-4p. I can’t get enough of this Fresh approach to wedding planning!
The event brings together 35+ great wedding venues and vendors (most small, independent businesses from Hyde Park and the South Side) with everything you need to plan your big day. You’ll meet event planners, caterers, florists, cake designers, invitation specialists, hair/makeup artists, clothing designers, photographers, and liquor suppliers, among others. Start out at Harper Court to pick up your complimentary event tote bag with a copy of Modern Luxury Weddings Chicago magazine and visit Vanille Patisserie, Connect Gallery, Hyatt Place, Jojayden, and The Silver Room before ending at The Promontory for a live DJ, cash bar, light bites, and raffle. Get your event map stamped at all locations for your raffle entry – prizes include stays at the new Sophy Hotel and Hyatt Place, Vanille Patisserie gift card, lace garter from Busted Bra Shop, gift card from Dearborn Denim and more. Check out the full list of businesses here.
Mama Fresh Hook Up!
So grab your fiancé, Mama, maid of honor, or planner (don’t worry if you don’t have a planner…you can meet one there!) and spend your Sunday Funday in Hyde Park checking out South Side businesses. Start at Harper Court, sip a mimosa and sample some cake and end up The Promontory for a live DJ, raffle, and more!
(Speaking of ending up at The Promontory, here is a pic of me having a nightcap at their bar….in my wedding dress!)
Cheers to all the brides to be! I hope your day is full of South Side Magic…just like mine!
