Black women breastfeed too.
Let me say it again for the people in the back:
🗣Black women breastfeed too.
August 25th- August 31st is Black Breastfeeding Week. This week was created 7 years ago to help close the racial disparity in breastfeeding. Black women breastfeed 17% less than white mothers. Why? Is it because of the stigma? Lack of support? Lack of information? Black Breastfeeding Week is here to figure this out.
What can WE do about it? Support Black mothers, ALL mothers in their choice to feed and nourish their baby.
I have partnered with pumpspotting to curate multiple events to discuss and celebrate Black Breastfeeding and end Breastfeeding Awareness week with a BANG.
I have thought VERY long and worked hard to put together events that speak to our community. If you are a breastfeeding mother these events are for you. If you know a Mama that is breastfeeding and needs the support, please forward this email.
The Saturday Mama Uplift Walk is a celebration of Motherhood. There is NO other walk like this in Chicago. We are walking in solidarity to uplift each other. There will be music. There will be food trucks. There will be families that value community just like you. I would love to see every Fresh Family at Roosevelt Collection on Sat Aug 31st.
Let me know what you think and which event you are attending. I will be at all 3 of course and would love for you to do the same.

Tuesday:
Milk + Honey: A round table discussion on the sweet side of breastfeeding. Click here for tixs!
Join us for a Milk and Honey Roundtable discussion to talk about the sweeter side of breastfeeding. And okay, the not so sweet side, too. We want mothers to come to this event and share their experiences because from what we believe, we as mothers are better together.
We will be hosting a roundtable discussion to facilitate it all. Hear from lactation consultant staff from University of Chicago, pumpspotting founder, Amy VanHaren and local motherhood leader, Mama Fresh.
Refreshments will be served and everyone will be sent home with a goodie bag–because moms need to be fed and nourished, too.
Thursday:
